The Move Abroad Retreat · coming soon

Come and do the hard part with somebody.

A bank account opened. Apartments seen with your own eyes. Neighborhoods walked at nine in the morning and eleven at night. Six rooms, not twenty-five.

A working week

Not a holiday. Better.

The retreat isn't open for booking yet. Here is what it will be. For people who have decided to move and want the hard parts done with somebody beside them. Hosted by me, with our relocation team and the agents and lawyers of our brokerage behind the week.

There are good meals and one properly unstructured day. The rest of the days are working days. It's also a week spent with a few other families making the same decision, and several of the most useful conversations happen at dinner rather than in an office.

When it runs

October, November, March, April and May

Offices are open, agents will actually show you apartments, and you can walk a city in the afternoon.

July also runs and costs more, because accommodation roughly doubles in peak season and administration slows for the summer. The premium is what the week costs to run, not a markup on demand.

The week

Six days. One plan.

1

Arrive, orient, first counter

The city on foot, the plan for the week, and for anyone with a NIF already, the first appointment in the diary.

2

The bank

Accounts opened where we know the branch and, usually, the banker. This is the morning that decides whether the rest of the week flows.

3

Apartments, seen

Viewings under the brokerage licence, neighborhoods walked at two different times of day, and the questions to ask before a lease is a lease.

4

Schools, health, the small chain

Schools and health centers seen, the registration chain explained at the counters that do it, phone and utilities sorted.

5

Open day

Yours. A second viewing, a day in a town you're curious about, or nothing at all, which is also a data point.

6

The debrief

Everyone's file, in order: what's done, what's next, and the dates that now exist. You leave with a plan you didn't have on Monday.

The retreat, and personal planning trips on your own dates, open later. The waitlist hears first, before anything is announced publicly.

You don't have to wait to start. The Binder and the course cover the NIF, the documents and the order to do things in, and the live Visa Clarity Session answers your questions in real time.

No payment, no commitment.

When it opens. Everything on the retreat will be education and relocation support, not legal advice. Property is shown and assessed under the licence of Páginas e Episódios, Lda., AMI 21288, and any lease you're ready to sign goes to the brokerage's lawyers first. Legal representation, in the United States or in Portugal, is not included and is a separate engagement. No bank, landlord, school or authority outcome can be guaranteed by anyone; we make each one as likely as it can be.
